Meet Jordan, a child very much like the hundreds we see each year through Children’s Law Center’s Custody Advocacy Program (CAP).

When Jordan first met our team, she was frightened, unsure whom to trust, and caught in the middle of a high-conflict custody battle marked by instability and domestic violence. Like so many children in these situations, Jordan had learned to stay quiet, to shrink herself to avoid conflict, to carry burdens no child should ever bear.

But the moment a CLC attorney stepped in, everything began to change.

We listened: to Jordan’s words, to her fears, and to what her behaviors was telling us.

We investigated: to understand the full picture of Jordan’s home life, school performance, and emotional wellbeing.

We advocated: to ensure the Court had an unbiased, child-centered view of what Jordan needed to be safe and to thrive.
