Giving Children a Voice: The Value of Children's Law Center in Our Community
Every child deserves to grow up in a safe, stable, and supportive environment. Unfortunately, for children caught in the middle of domestic violence, high-conflict custody disputes, or challenges within the public education system, that sense of security can be difficult to find.
At Children's Law Center of Central North Carolina (CLC), we believe that every child's voice matters, especially when decisions are being made that will shape their future.
For more than two decades, CLC has provided high-quality legal advocacy to vulnerable children throughout Forsyth and Guilford counties. Our attorneys and trained staff and volunteer advocates work to ensure that children's needs, safety, and best interests are heard and considered during some of the most difficult circumstances a family can face.
Making a Difference Beyond the Courtroom
The value of CLC's work extends far beyond legal representation. Through our flagship programs, we help strengthen families, connect children with critical resources, and contribute to a safer, healthier community.
Through our Custody Advocacy Program, staff and volunteer attorneys serve as Guardians ad Litem advocates for children involved in domestic violence protective order and high-conflict custody proceedings. By providing an independent voice focused on the child's best interests, CLC helps courts make more informed decisions about children's safety and well-being.
Our Education Advocacy Program works to protect the educational rights of children, particularly students with disabilities and those facing barriers to receiving the services and support they need to succeed in school.
In both programs, CLC recognizes that legal advocacy is often just one piece of the puzzle. By collaborating with community partners and identifying additional needs, we help connect children and families with mental health services, educational resources, and other essential support systems.
